Open Letter to Modern Life Is War

Dear Modern Life is War,

When I'm fed up with others and struggling to find it in me to keep hopeful, I listen to your music and it reminds me why I exist. You remind me that things may be hard but that I need to hold onto to that ounce of happiness that others give me. I love screaming along to your songs--it's cathartic for me.

so scrape your heart up from the bottom of the bottom of the barrel. keep your faith in the path that's growing narrow. kill the doubt inside your head. we overcome. we push ahead - First and Ellen

Thanks for your passion and writing these songs.

Open Letter to One True Thing

Dear One True Thing,

I miss you. Why did you just disappear? I don't expect an answer, but recently I've been thinking about you. Your songs were some of the first I've heard in the emo/power pop/indie rock kind of music. I saw you for the first time at Rexplex in Elizabath. Wow, remember that place? I don't remember much what I thought about the show, but I do remember that Melanie was at the merch table after the set and I thought that was really cool. We briefly spoke and you and you all signed my CD! You were so nice and I appreciated that.

I also remember you had a video shoot at Cricket Club in Irvington, not too far from where I lived in Newark. My mom said she would take me and I was looking forward to it, but then for whatever reason said she couldn't take me at the last minute. I was so bummed. I poured my eyes out for a good hour or so. I don't remember if this was before or after, but I saw you at Vintage Vinyl in Fords in 2004 (I had to look that up). as well. We took a photo--you can see below. I think there were two guys headbanging during your set, haha.

I've somehow lost the newer version of Finally you released on Play the Assassin and also not sure what happened to the 5 latest songs you released: "Greasy Jungle," "Sound of My Voice," (my favorite), etc. How was that released anyway? I have them digitally on my computer thankfully. That was a good EP. Heartfelt. Sweet. Honest. Catchy.

Anyway, thanks for those few years. It was cool seeing ya'll play. Anyone in the band playing music these days?

Open Letter to Bodega Girls

Dear Bodega Girls,

I'm a shy girl but your music makes me dance my sexy Puerto Rican ass off. Last October I saw you play at Arlene's Grocery. It wasn't the first time I had seen the Bodega Girls, but it was the first time I had danced that much. I seriously couldn't stop dancing. I got tired but I forced myself to keep going because the music simply took hold of me. "Ain't That Cold" is a HOT track. I can't get enough. I want to shake, and moon walk, and drop my ass to the floor, and then pick it up, and grab someone close to me and dance so smoothly. It's amazing how you mix hot licks with sweet beats. What I'm trying to say is thanks for making sexy music and for being sexy too, and for getting a shy girl from Brick City to feel confident about herself. Thanks for letting me get loose with you. Thanks for inducing ear-to-ear grins. Thanks for restoring my faith in dance bands.

P.S. Your 10'' is caliente.
